TrebleClefMusical instruction is a paramount way to communicate the love of God and the truths of His word to children from a very early age. That is why Our Savior Lutheran School seeks to raise up young musicians who can use their talents to serve the Lord and His people by singing, playing, and better understanding God’s wondrous gift of music. Each child in the school has many opportunities throughout the week to engage in music instruction, develop and hone musical performance skills, and to be involved in the musical life of our parish.

Take a look at what follows in order to learn of all the exciting ways your children encounter music at Our Savior Lutheran School! In addition, please free to contact me for any additional information about the music program of Our Savior Lutheran School. I would love to chat with you!

God’s Blessings to you!

Preschool through First Grade choir — Directed by Miss Ashlea Weston & Mrs. Amy Kurth
Our preschool through first grade students sing for worship roughly 2-3 times a year and are also given opportunities to sing for other school events. Songs are typically taught as part of their general music class and incorporated into their classes throughout the day.

General Music — Pre-K through 1st Grade taught by Miss Weston; Grades 2 through 4 taught by Kantor Swett
General music classes are also taught to students at Our Savior Lutheran School through fourth grade. Once in fifth grade, students have the opportunity to join one of our elective music ensembles or take instrumental lessons. Music classes focus on teaching students essential concepts and skills through singing, playing, reading, moving, composing, notating, and listening to various forms of music. The goal of these classes is to give students the knowledge they need to understand music as well as make it. In addition, these classes help prepare students for more advanced musical participation in middle school.
